Background:

The project titled ‘Climate Change Adaptation in Rural Areas of India’(CCA-RAI), being implemented under the bilateral cooperation of MoEFCC and GIZ, aims to integrate climate adaptation and mitigation measures into national and state development planning through capacity development, generating pilot experiences on adaptation and knowledge management. One important focus area under CCA-RAI is to support identified States/UTs in demonstrating approaches to integrate CCA into planning process.

Government of Himachal Pradesh has recently launched Eco Village Scheme through Department of Environment, Science & Technology (DEST) which intends to demonstrate a model of environmentally sustainable development at the village level in active collaboration with local communities. In the first phase, five villages are five districts are identified and local authorities need guidance on designing the Eco-village Development Plan with concrete activities (as per the notified guidelines).

Objective:

CCA-RAI in partnership with DEST aims to prioritise high impact climate change adaptation issues and implement measures as well as strengthen skills to deal with such challenges. In this context, overall objective of the assignment is to develop Eco-village Development Plan for two identified villages and support its implementation.

Tasks of the assignment:

In this context, the selected agency is expected to carry out following tasks:

Task I: Develop Eco-village Development Plan for two identified villages-- Village Charau in Shimla district and village Janjehli in Mandi district
Task II: Technical support for implementation of Eco-village Development Plan at village Janjehli in Mandi district as per plan of action
