Project Description
Address land degradation issues in villages adjoining historic Nilgala herbal forest , conduct initial survey, capacity building and awareness raising of community groups, develop home gardens, activities to contain further encroachments into forest, rainwater harvesting, bee keeping and organic farming. The project aimed to contain encroachment into the forest which is rapidly taking place around this historic forest. By encouraging members to develop the land already annexed as their property and earn an income from this land on a sustainable basis, would be one of the main activities in minimising encroachments.
