Project Description
Context: Bahi is one of the districts in Tanzania, which is hit hardest by the effects of Climate Change. As a result of climate change, yields of major crops such as maize and rice have declined, groundwater levels have dropped, deforestation rates are increasing and malnutrition rates remain stubbornly high. With this grim backdrop, World Vision Tanzania has developed an innovative rural livelihoods initiative known as Secure the Future It is aimed at improving the productivity and profitability of small holder farmers through soil and water conservation, agro-forestry, regeneration of local trees and forests to ensure sustainable development. About the NGO: World Vision Tanzania is part of an international non-government organization that works in almost 100 countries around the world. World Vision Tanzania has been working in Tanzania since 1981. It is operational in 36 districts through 62 established offices. World Vision Tanzania has been working in Bahi since 2002. Therefore, it has the advantage of knowing the local environment of the target district. Project Primary Objective: To enhance community s resilience to climate stress, especially shortage of rainfall, drought and strong winds through joint, community-driven natural resource management that will integrate the sustainable conservation particularly water, land and forestry.
