East Delhi Municipal Corporation is planning a solid waste management facility in dist. East Delhi, Delhi. Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs on 15th September, 2017 announced a Rs. 3,000 million action plan for a visible improvement in solid waste management in Delhi. The initiative will be supported by the Ministry from the `Urban Development Fund` operated by Delhi Development Authority. Under the Plan, automated machinery, equipment and other systems will be procured for better collection, transport and storage of garbage, decentralized treatment and better maintenance of sewers and drains. Total of 549 units of modern equipment will be procured including North & South project. The corporation will spend Rs. 1,000 million. An assistance of Rs. 800 million will be provided to corporation from the Urban Development Fund. All equipment including treatment plants are to be procured and commissioned by the end of 2017.
