GM Sugar And Energy proposes a 50 MW bagasse-based co-gen power plant at Village Chatnahalli, dist. Haveri, Karnataka. The project will come up along with a 10,000 TCD sugar and 120 KLD distillery at a total estimated cost of Rs. 3,500 million. The current status of the project could not be ascertained. According to MoEF sources, total available land is 187,164.56 sq. mtrs. Co-generation unit will produce 50 MWhr of power, out of which, 27 MWhr will be utilized for the sugar and co-gen power plants and remaining 20.8 MWhr shall be sent to State Power Grid.
