Implementing NGO/CBO: Mekong Basin Community Council Network (MBCC): Established as a registered community council on 17 May 2009 aiming to protect community right in managing natural resources, collaborating for sustainable development and adapting to natural disaster, and building capacity of communities residing along Mekong River in 7 provinces Location of project: 7 locations in 7 provinces along Mekong River in the Northeastern Region, a fresh water- agricultural ecosystems in the Greater Mekong Sub-region. Target Population: 2,496 families from 27 villages in the 7 locations who practice agriculture, small-scale fishery and other general services including tourism and depend upon the provisions of Mekong River. The per capita income is THB: 60,000. Main Activities to be carried out: 1.Launching technical capacity building of youth group 2. Launching demonstration of conservation activities through building 7 model communities 3. Launching dissemination of project results 4. Launching participatory evaluation Anticipated Results and Indicators: 1. Increase awareness and capacity of youth group in 7 project locations witnessed by an establishment of youth core leader network with at least 35 members launching conservation activities on-line 2. Emergence of a variety of model communities consistent with Mekong ecosystems and culture such as chemical-free communities, adaptation to disaster communities 3. Emergence of a holistic plan (s) to protect Mekong River in project locations 4. At least two dissemination materials being publicized through national media channel
