Implementing NGO/CBO: Thai Nature Study Centre (TNEC): Established on 1 January 2008, through congregation of nature study groups, nature and environment researchers, students and volunteers who wish to promote education on nature and environment. By using nature as a media, TNSC focuses on instilling conservation awareness for youth and other population Location of project: A flat plain area in Tambol Kongdin, Rayong Province, covered with wetland and constituting an integrated ecosystems of the Gulf of Thailand. In spite of being an inland terrain suitable for paddy , para-rubber and several types of landraces, some portion is under influence of sea water thus thriving mangroves and water species. A few recent decades of socio-economic development has resulted in alteration and degradation of ecosystems and its function. Target Population: 70 families in project location the majority of which earn their living through plantation of fruit trees, para-rubber and fishery. The per capita income is THB: 50,000. 30 families are direct project participants. Main Activities to be carried out: 1.Launching capacity building through training 2. Launching demonstration of conservation activities through biomass bank, mangrove restoration, and environmentally-friendly products 3. Launching dissemination of project results 4. Launching participatory evaluation / knowledge management Anticipated Results and Indicators 1. Increase capacity of targeted population witnessed by ability for form 4 actions groups: biomass bank, eco-tourism, mangrove conservation and production group operating continuously 2. Established conservation areas: 40-ha mangrove and 9-ha cultivated land 3. Established community learning place and eco-tourist spot for surrounding communities and local schools with dissemination documents 4. Emergence of unique community products to generate additional income
