Project Description
Implementing NGO/CBO:Chumphon Environmental Friends Association (CHEFA): Established as an association with Chumphorn Province in 2003, as an NGO with the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment in 2006, with precedent environment activities as an environment conservation club since 1992. CHEFA focuses activities among local youth and communities. Once having wider networks, CHEFA had registered as an association. Location of project: A watershed area of about 80 ha in Pathiw District, Chumphorn Province, a flat land with rocky mountain and several creeks combining to be an ecological portion of the Gulf of Thailand. There is a water fall which is also a tourist attraction. Target Population: 109 families in project location of Tambol Thalesap the majority of which grow oil palms, para-rubber, fruit trees and small gardening species/seasonal crop. The per capita income is THB: 56,187. All 109 families are direct project participants. Main Activities to be carried out: 1.Launching capacity building through workshop/study tour/forum 2. Launching demonstration of conservation activities through inventorying, rehabilitating, zoning, overseeing 3. Launching dissemination of project results 4. Launching participatory evaluation /knowledge managment Anticipated Results and Indicators: 1. Increase capacity of 70 % of community members witnessed by ability to apply what being learnt and coordinate with public sectors 2. Clearer demarcation of the watershed 3. Compiled data, clearer framework and common regulations for conservation 4. Degraded forest land being rehabilitated by 80 % , with at least 4 species of medicinal value thriving 5. Compilation of one set of education media on local knowledge in managing natural resources
