In the past Seychelles has depend a lot on rivers traditionally but what we see today is that people are not taking care about keeping the rivers clean so that we may have free supply of clean and fresh water.Rivers also are drying up due to poor management and some sources are even being diverted or converted into ditches ad drain and alternatively they are being polluted due to illegal dumping and sewage.River bank and its ecosystem are being destroyed by construction activities which mostly involves buiding od concrete walls and houses.Traditionally, Community used to maintain and take care of the rivers but nowadays everything has been left in neglect .with climate change impact and severe drought ,the needs to take river water for everyday use is increasing and therefore first and foremost communities must learn about the importance of the river ecosystem and take responsability for its ecological health and water quality ,as well as the lving organism it contains. The main aim of the project is to increase the involvement of wildlife club members and their communities in the consevation of rivers and waterseds in Seychelles through educational activities , promotional materials and community participation at large, as well as advocate for improve conservation of rivers in the Seychelles.
