Inland Waterways Authority Of India is implementing a development of fairway and terminal facilities on River Barak in Assam. Proposal for development at a cost of Rs. 760.1 million has been approved for phase-I of river Barak from Silchar to Bhanga. Dredging for fairway development work in Silchar Bhanga stretch has commenced. A consultant has been engaged for upgradation of terminals at Badarpur, Karimganj and new floating terminal at Silchar.
