Kunar is a habitat of different Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs); which provides livelihood support to more than 1900 individuals in and around the province. Specifically, districts which are located near to the hilly areas and lush green hillocks on both sides is place for its habitation and providing a pleasant aesthetic value to the dwellers. The four-sided hills, and agriculture fields of the districts are covered with rich biodiversity of various grasses, herbs, shrubs and woody trees. Medicinal plants are playing a significant role in the livelihood of a particular floristic area. Different people are generating their income from the collection, trading and exporting of the plant species. As a natural and economical resource, medicinal plants are unwisely collected and uprooted by different people in the target districts. This uncontrolled collection has threatened the survival of existing plant species which are near to extinction in the coming 2-3 years. Keeping in view the importance of flora of target districts, the proposed project is designed to conserve the medicinal plants, collect/document the folk asset of indigenous knowledge; and create awareness regarding the importance and conservation of medicial palnt and it,s link with livelihood. The project will focus on trainings for sustainable collection and cultivation. Furthermore, the conservation status of different vulnerable medicinal plants will be noticed and recorded through the help of indigenous community knowledge and field practices of the wild villages of the districts.
