Shree Cement is planning an expansion of its integrated cement plant at its Unit: Karnataka Cement Project at Village Benkanhalli, dist. Kalaburagi, Karnataka. The project will entail capacity enhancement of the clinker plant from 2.4 MTPA to 4.5 MTPA, cement plant from 4.0 MTPA to 6.0 MTPA, captive power plant from 2x22 MW to 2x25 MW and Waste Heat Recovery power plant from 20 MW to 35 MW. The project is in preliminary stage and is waiting for environmental clearance. According to MoEF sources, the project will also entail manufacture of 1,560 TPD synthetic gypsum, D.G. sets of 2,000 KVA (1,000/500/250 KVA) and residential colony. Land area is 173.32 hectares. The estimated cost of the project is Rs. 18,000 million. Total 535 houses, a club house, school and auditorium will be constructed (built-up area 119,776 sq. mtrs). 300 KLD STP will be installed. Power requirement will be met through CPP and WHR power plant. 2,000 KVA DG set is proposed. The project is planned for completion in 18 months from the date of start of work. [Info as of: Jan. `17]
