Project Description
The primary objectives of the project are: a) To facilitate exchange of information, share experiences and lessons, establish linkages and networking of all grantees through presentations on project implementation with associated successes and challenges; b) To help grantees to sharpen the financial and project management skills of grantees to enable adherence to the reporting requirements of the programme; c) To accord grantees a chance to visit some of the sites of the projects funded by GEF/SGP and witness official hand over of some of the projects; d) To provide a platform to publicize and launch products emanating from GEF/SGP projects. e) To strengthen, explore and forge partnerships for resource mobilization with other financial institutions; government, donors, private companies, community based organizations and non-governmental organizations. The project intends to provide a platform and an avenue for engaging in dialogue with financial partners, sharing experiences, lessons learnt, successes and challenges on project implementation for initiatives geared towards solving environmental problems and taping on opportunities provided by the environment. The initiative will increase visibility of GEF/SGP funded projects and showcase best practices emanating from biodiversity conservation, climate change mitigation, prevention of land degradation, protection of international waters, phasing out of persistent organic pollutants and multi-focal area. In addition, it will allow CBOs and NGOs to understand the programme and give them a chance to explore possibilities of co-financing by other financial partners. Furthermore, it will provide linkages for getting information on the criteria used by other donor/partners in funding projects and community based initiatives.
