Project Description
The project aims to provide sustainable livelihoods for a community of laid off miners using the natural resources in the area. The level of awareness, understanding and involvement of the Svinita community will be raised in biodiversity and climate change concerns, with a view to finding means for providing sustainable livelihoods to the locals. An income generating activity will be initiated consisting of establishing a fig plantation and a drying/packaging equipment using alternative energy sources (photovoltaic panels). It is foreseen to expand the activities to processing other natural products available in the area using the existing equipment.
