The project involves the publication of three issues of the Newsletter over one year aimed at rural communities throughout the country. The purpose of the project is to make information available particularly to those comunities who have embarked on projects funded under SGP through sharing of experiences. The Newsletter is also targeted towards policy makers as the information will be useful in terms of raising awareness on what is happening on the environmental scene on addressing issues of global concern.The project will also address the problem of limited and often inappropriate information on the environment and on sustainable development in general and funding -such as the SGP-in particular. project objectives -to develp a body of iformation on general environmentand global environmebt facility small grants programme specific information -to provide an accessible source of information for rural cmmunities and organisations working with communities -to facilitate the generation of information from the rural communities for on ward sharing with other communities across Zimbabwe -to strengthen the work of the GEFSGP office in Zimbabwe -toproduce 3 issues of the rural magazine "ITS OURS/ NDEZVEDU/NGOKWETHU " in 3 main languages. Specific results -at least 5 community members trained and writing stories for the newsletter -communities implementing SGP projects developed into distriution zones for the newsletter -five thousand copies per issue of the newsletter produced -3 issues of the special feature newsletter produced -at least 70 % of SGP projects successfully implemented -at least 20 new applications for funding are received by the end of the project. activities -hold two workshops in Matebeleland and mashonalandto train selected community members in compiling articles for the newsletter -prepare technical material on the focal areas of the SGP for inclusion in the newsletter - prepare articles accepted for publication -publish the newletter county wide through approved dstribution centres -distibute the newsletter country wide through approved distribution centres.
