Project Description
The project is aimed at development of the adaptive land use model of Priozernoye rural community, Tselinogradsky District, Akmola Oblast, and demonstrate its environmental, economic and social validity under the climate change conditions. Planning Phase 1.The planned grant assumes the training work to be organized in Priozernoye Village for all the project participants for the purpose of detailed discussion of all sections, activities, timing, the persons to be involved in the actual implementation and the budget in respect of the project. 2.The specialists will take part in the field trip to collect the information: field and erosion survey; conditions of ponds, dykes, the field road network etc. 3.The following experts will be involved at the planning phase: hydraulic engineer, agronomist, eonomist, land planner, and soil specialist. 4.The experts will draft the design of soil and water protection arrangements to mitigate the risks associated with the climate change. The methods to be proposed will ensure the environmentally and economically sustainable land tenancy of the local community of Priozernoye Village. 5.The final detailed project proposal will be developed and submitted to SGP GEF jointly with the local community in question. 6.The vulnerability reduction assessment will be performed based on the projected land degradation prevention scenarios (reduced loss of soil from water erosion) in view of potential changes in the fertility of arable lands under the increased aridity conditions. 7.Demonstration of experience in adaptive land tenancy to the local governments and MoA. 8.The sources of funding for the planning phase will be UNDP CBA planning grant and the proponent s own funds.
