Enabling Climate Action through Knowledge Campaign: Popular Lecture Series on Climate Change and Sustainable Development

Government of India has come out with a multi-pronged strategy to address challenges of climate change-- National level, National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC) at the national level and State Action Plans on Climate Change (SAPCCs) at the sub-national level that details out sector specific plans for adaptation and mitigation. However, the knowledge related to climate impact & risks and its integration into adaptation strategies and subsequent implementation is still in the initial stages. In view of this, knowledge generation and dissemination is critical to appropriate climate actions and requires engagement with wide range of stakeholder to create awareness about climate change impacts, strategies and best practices related to adaptation and mitigation to bridge the knowledge gap and science-policy- practice deficit.

In this context, a Lecture Series on Climate Change and Sustainable Development has been envisaged to serve as a platform to promote dialogue and knowledge exchange and experience sharing among wider community of stakeholders including researchers, practitioners, policymakers and the public including students about climate change challenges and in rural India. This in turn will fulfil larger objective of strengthening science-policy- practice connect.

GIZ proposes to engage an appropriate Consultancy firm/ NGO/ Consortia (which may include groups of individuals, think tanks and consultancies) to undertake following deliverables:

  • Develop strategy and modalities for the series of lectures in the 4 partner states on climate change and sustainable development that can be shared for scaling up in other States.
