Government Of India, Ministry of Textiles, is planning a technology center (tool room) in dist. Kanpur Nagar, Uttar Pradesh. A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed among Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME), Ministry of Textiles & National Textile Corporation (NTC) on 8th December, 2015 in order to set up the technology center. Under the MoU, Ministry of MSME will fund the project, while NTC would provide the land in a closed, unviable mill. The center would provide support in manufacturing of quality tools that would improve productivity of MSMEs and enable them to become competitive in national and international markets; it would also provide trained manpower and consultancy in related areas. Management will be through a Governing Council where Development Commissioner, MSME will be Chairman and Ministry of Textiles representative, co-chair. [Info as of: Dec. `15]
