Founded in 1987, the mission n of the Rainforest Alliance is to protect ecosystems , along with the people and wildlife that live all to trav s the best pr implementation of trade practices for Conservation of biodiversity. The Rainforest Alliance works around the world : in the woods, on farms along the beaches , in kitchens, in stores, in the classroom, in the press rooms and conference boards. In each of these sites is creating a global standard is to help people to protect biodiversity and provides opportunities to populations in need. The Eco -Index www.eco- index.org - A service of Rainforest Alliance, is a website fully available in English and Spanish ol s ( n is also some information in Portuguese s ), which is a strong base data can be reviewed in different ways and includes information about more than 800 Conservation initiatives developed by about 650 different organizations in neotr peak . With this project, the Rainforest Alliance seeks to promote the Eco -Index NGOs supported SGP / GEF and as facilitate the exchange of information and experiences among themselves and with organizations around the world. It is proposed to create a new section as the Eco -Index n a bilingual space and where there is an emphasis and greater promotional effort n , for small and medium-sized operations and community tur Statistics Costa Rica operations have been certified or recommended as sustainable program for NGOs or agencies recognized by the sustainable Tourism Program of Rainforest Alliance . Eventually this new section n include information operations across Am America and the Caribbean. A trav s of this project, the Rainforest Alliance offer a free promotional n , effective, and to publicize these operations tur Statistics ams receiving 22,000 visitors monthly , the Eco -Index . By way of comparison ny so that you can get a better idea of the scope of ste number - in the last 3 months, the p gina Sustainable Tourism Program , at the site of Rainforest Alliance , has received more than 6,100 visitors; p gina n ACCREDITATION Council for Sustainable Tourism Certifiers has received 5,150 visitors; and p gina SmartVoyager received 2,700. Only in February of the year 2004 , 6 of PDF reports available in page of the Sustainable Tourism were downloaded 3,203 times. GENERAL OBJECTIVE To facilitate the exchange of information and experiences between NGOs supported PPD / GEF in Costa Rica , and among the environmental community worldwide that can leverage the knowledge of them, trav s the Eco -Index ( www.eco- index.org ) - a database , in line l , which allows b searched is bilingual and promotes initiatives Conservation and sustainable use of natural resources in the Neotr peak ; with emphasis on the promotion of the n small and medium operations tur Statistics sustainable and community operations in Costa Rica , to reach your potential customers in an effective and cost -free way .
