Vocational training

PRETEP - PLUS - Support to Technical and Professional Training Reform System in Mozambique. The initiative will continue, strengthen and expand the activities of technical assistance and institutional capacity building in support of the Ministry of Education (MINED), in the framework of the Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) Reform, implementing a network of Centres of Excellence for Technical Training in the Agro-Industry and Tourism/Hospitality sectors, linked to the productive sectors through the establishment of Public-Private Partnerships and to the local Employment Services of the Ministry of Labour. It will be implemented through a Concessional Credit managed by the Ministry of Finance on the basis of a Financial Agreement. Purpose National Directorate for Technical and Vocational Education (DINET) of the MINED capable of implementing the TVET Reform applying efficiently the Government and International resources for the development of a public offer of technical education in Agro-Industry and Tourism/Hospitality aligned with the International Quality Standards, in order to improve the occupability of the national Labour-Force and to increase the schools` efficiency, as part of the national active policies for job creation. In this framework, at least 27.000 students will be given the technical skills required by the labour market and the Centres` management, teaching and technical personnel skills will be improved to National Standards of Excellence. Main results and activities At least 10 Technical Education Institutes (6 for the Agro-industry sector and 4 for the Tourism/Hospitality sector) credited as Provincial Institutes of Reference, of which 3 Institutes for Agriculture and 2 Institutes for Tourism/Hospitality will be credited as Centres of Excellence; Two Higher Education Centres of International Standard for schools` technicians, teachers and managers established, of which one for the Agro-industry sector and one for the Tourism/Hospitality sector, in co-operation with the Eduardo Mondlane University, in different locations throughout the country; Three Provincial Employment Services strengthened, equipped an capable to ensure services of the highest quality at provincial level, in connection with the local economic associations; At least 27.000 students having the technical abilities required by the Labour Market; At least 1.000 public servants, teachers, technicians and school managers having the skills required to perform their duties respecting international quality standards; Competence Based Curricula tested and revised for Agriculture, Agro-industry and Tourism/Hospitality sectors in coordination with the competent National Authoriry; National Plan to introduce e-learning in the TVET tested and refined; Instruments for Labour Market permanent assessment implemented in at least 3 Provinces; Technical assistance for the DINET internal re-organisation ensured, in the framework of the implementation of the TVET Reform, and Institution Building Programme implemented and tested; Introduction of PPP`s for the management of the TVET Schools locally implemented and tested, linking schools with productive sectors, labour market and employment services.
