Rural development

IFC will support Bank Muamalat in the following areas: (i) strengthen its existing operations to expand into rural areas; (ii) assist the Bank to develop a detailed understanding of the agricultural and rural potential, as well as to identify financing opportunities and risks by region; (iii) increase outreach of the Bank by leveraging the knowledge and network of value chain players; (iv) enhance risk assessment processes for rural lending; (v) enhance staff capacity by introducing well-defined agriculture finance training curriculum and modules, as well as organizing training of trainer sessions; and (vi) develop a prototype for rural finance that can be used by Bank Muamalat as a platform to replicate the model throughout its micro units.
