NSL Sugars, formerly known as Jay Mahesh Sugar Industries & belonging to the NSL Group, has proposed an expansion of sugar manufacturing project from 7,500 TCD & 12,000 TCD at Village Pawarwadi, dist. Beed, Maharashtra. The project will come up along with a new distillery and a power project at a total cost of Rs. 1.3 billion on 100 acres. The current status of the project could not be ascertained. According to the pre-feasibility report submitted to MoEF, sugar effluent will be treated in ETP and after compliance with norms of SPCB, the treated effluent will be utilized for irrigation purpose. Spent wash generated from the distillery will be treated in biodigester followed by multiple effect evaporators to concentration and then to bio-composting or incineration in the proposed new 30 TPH incineration boiler. 33 acres of green belt will be developed in the plant premises as per CPCB norms. The company proposed to replace the existing 2x20 TPH boilers with new 30 TPH boiler for the distillery plant. Now additional 3 MW power will be generated from new 30 TPH boiler. The spent wash (1200 KLD) treatment will be by concentration in Multiple Effect Evaporators (MEE) to 60 % solids followed by incineration in boiler along with bagasse. The bio gas generated will be utilized as fuel in the boiler. [Info as of: Feb. `15]
