The Project is located in the Ind Book gena Boruca , Province of Puntarenas , Cant n of Buenos Aires , with a population n ind current gena about 2,430 inhabitants , whose main activity is agriculture and craft a, which was formed by Executive Decree No. 22203 -G of April 16, 1993 , with an extension of 12,470 hect n areas. The small grants program funding by PASS COS/01/29 project was executed during the period March 2002 - July 2003 , with excellent results according to the evaluation will as well as the impact on the territory ind gena . This project includes : The reforestaci n a nursery of 65,000 plants COVIRENAS support , support to ind gena crafts ( Nursery 5,000 plants and promotion of crafts to n , and a nursery for medicinal plants as a result of . project the amount of 65,000 nursery plants properly distributed and planted all along the basin ri Boruca was overcome . as same goals and planned activities were completed in the project. with experience was launched on a process of recovery of n natural and environmental resources accompanied by a process of concientizaci TRAINING ny n between n population of Ind Reserva Boruca gena . Notwithstanding the negative impact that draws the community is very high , since the loss in more than 80 % of its forests , with a completely deforested watershed with serious water problems for the population n . basin R or Boruca and its tributaries crosses around the center of the territory and covers 70% of total land area ) with their impact is of great dimension ny directly affects all communities . The project has achieved a very significant development however it is necessary to continue the process to strengthen and consolidate the work a strategy that is sustainable in the long term as regards the recovery of n as the basin as Brunka culture. As it is necessary to support actions to improve the conditions of alimentation b SICAS future trav na n the population of the recovery n s own seeds used in Brunka diet. This second project seeks to strengthen adem s Brunka other areas of culture and use the Boruca radio station , a community radio station , but without support for promotional work ny n extension of Brunka culture , the project aims to make a programming n including awareness and promotion of environmental values n and Brunka culture, same as the recovery n the seed used in traditional Brunka diet. Principal Project Objective: The main objective of the project is the improvement and control of environmental degradation to trav s n the restoration of biodiversity in the basin of R or Boruca , and critical source of water, n disminuci actions that threaten depredaci n of natural resources , the recovery of traditional seed n and n promotion of culture Brunka .
