This project aims to reduce the incidence of forest fires through an increase in knowledge, appraisal, appreciation and proper use of natural and cultural resources of the canton of Bagaces. This project aims to rescue the experience and practical knowledge which has been accumulated for more than one decade in the region, and thus generate a tool and simple to allow different institutions or organizations public or private, jointly face the fire management. The result that is intended to reach is success in the prevention and control of forest fires and agricultural and so the conservation and restoration of the environment in the region, based on this is to be achieved: "promote and establish guidelines on fire management, to facilitate and enable the incorporation of institutions, organizations and civil society to the restoration of the environment"in order to reduce the impact on the region. The objectives of the project are:-order and direct the development of guidelines and actions towards the fire management for different institutions and organizations related to the theme in the Chorotega region. -Estimullar interinstitutional local, regional and national coordination, to strengthen the development of actions in relation to the handling of the fire. -Increase the level of participation and incorporation of civil society in the management of fire and consequently contribute to the environmental restoration by reducing the impact of fire in the region. -Promote the knowledge ordered over the different factors and processes that interact in the handling of the fire. -Defining evaluation mechanisms to monitor the development of the guidelines and actions referred to in this program. -To provide the basic technical tools and necessary to the decision making process in management of fire in the region.

Costa rica
