Project Development Goals: To achieve fisheries and ecosystem management in Pasawaran area that support the utilization of sustainable ornamental fisheries and responsible trading in terms of increasing fishers and coastal community s welfare. Project Objectives: 1. To improve the ability of coastal community, local fishermen, and Pasawaran District government officers in participatory planning with the support from multi-stakeholders contibution 2. To implement sustainable ornamental fisheries management activities 3. Rehabilitating the damage area by coastal community and local fishermen 4. To promote the rehabilitation area into protected area Expected Outputs: 1. Existing the Management Plan of Fisheries and Ecosystem Utilization Area in Pasawaran District through multi-stakeholders consultation and participatory approach 2. Implementing the determination process of No Take Area in utilization area. 3. Existing management group where there are representatives from stakeholders and acknowledge by Pasawaran District Government. 4. Implementing rehabilitation activities by fishers and local community using transplataion method mastered by fishermen. 5. Improving the skills of fisher community in ornamental fish and coral reef utilization using an environmentally-friendly method. 6. Improving the skills of fisher and supplier in terms of post-catching treatment, including capacity in terms of collecting, packing, screening, and shipping. 7. Establishing relation with the market that has responsibility and environmentally value which only accessing the environmentally-friendly and fair trading utilization 8. Sustainable livelihood due to the correct utilization of resources, such as the variety of coral reef that transplanted based on market demand, livelihood that has value added due to the environmentally-friendly and responsible implementation. 9. Supporting the independence of fisher and supplier through the establishment of trading relation in terms of sustainable and responsible ornamental fish trading and utilization. Activities to be conducted: 1. Training on the Concept of Sustainable Fishery and Ecosystem Management Using Training Modules 1.1 Coral reef ecosystem and fisheries resources management for sustainable utilization. 1.2 Introduction of utilization of ornamental fish for aquarium trading 1.3 Introduction sustainable implementation of fisheries management in terms of responsible trading. 1.4 Introduction of fisheries management based on sustainable catchment s value 1.5 Introduction of fisheries and coral reef condition monitoring technique 1.6 Data and information management and utilization 2. Training to Improve Fisherman and Seller Capacity In Practicing Good Way of Utilization Based on Sustainable Business 2.1 Introduction of non-environmental destructive catching method 2.2 Introduction of post-catchment s treatment ( collecting, technique, packing, water quality control) 2.3 Introduction of diving equipments and healthy diving method 2.4 Understanding of fishery management concept and fish conservation 2.5 Introduction of basic sustainable and responsible ornamental fish and coral business and trading managements. 3. Mentoring in Terms of Strengthening Fisherman and Supplier Capacity in Best Practice Implementation 4. Composting Management Plan of Ecosystem and Fisheries Utilization Area to Assure the Management Activities Based on Sustainable Principles and Implemented for Community 5. Implementing Survey on Ornamental Fish Resources in Catchments Area 6. Advocating the No Take Area in Utilization Area as Part of Management Plan. Multi-stakeholders will be involved in the process and mechanism. 7. Implementing rehabilitation activity by the community and fisherman using transplantation technique that already mastered by fisherman. 7.1 The target group will discuss and decide about the extensive of rehabilitation area using transplantation method. 7.2 Several criteria in terms of determining target area : a. The coral reefs that already destructed b. Utilization area by target fisher community c. Easy to monitor by fisher and local community d. Approved by all elements that involved with the project 8. Facilitating the establishment of business network and relation between fisherman and trader who participate in environmentally sound implementation program with national market that share common business implementation values. 9. Documenting all activity process through case study writings, out reaching through articles in international magazine and promotion in trade show arena or hobbyist. Project Participants and/or beneficiaries: 1. Two fishers communities, with 12 members each group (including supplier) 2. Fishers and supplier family, min. 20 families 3. Exporters member of Indonesia Corall Shell and Ornamental Fish Asscociation 4. Government Officers of Pesawaran District Marine Affairs and Fisheries Agency
