Bio-diversity

This project has three objectives as follows: (i) "To enhance the organisation`s products and quality for increased market access by December 2013 with emphasis on biodiversity conservation; (ii) To enable beekeepers to access continuous training and technological support for the development of their expertise and to facilitate members to improve production throughout the project, promoting biodiversity conservation; and (iii) to promote biodiversity conservation through honey production by increasing the active membership of the cooperative, improve communications and encourage more cooperation among beekeepers by December 2014. Project activities will include market research, promotional programmes, training, technological support, membership drive, improvement of communications, and networking. Two significant outputs will be the planting of a minimum of 20 acres of trees and HACCP compliance certification. Ultimately, by the project completion date there will be a vibrant Cooperative of Honey Producers working towards increasing the quantity and quality of honey produced in Saint Lucia and also exporting same to overseas markets.
