Environmental policy and administrative management

A group of young people in agriculture wishes to create a business with the potential to grow and provide employment and income. The project will use fallen trees in the forest and from different sources including woodlots. The project objectives are to: (i) acquire, test and use new technology for making charcoal efficiently and environmentally sustainable; (ii) make sustainable use of available timber resources; (iii) add value to the final product by focusing on proper packaging and making use of waste products; (iv) provide high quality sustainable employment opportunities to youth of Dennery and environs. The project goal is "to create a long lasting profitable enterprise which will provide sustainable jobs for youth and others through the sustainable use of timber resources and the acquisition and efficient implementation of new technologies and approaches". The project will contribute to the CPS outcome, i.e., "sustainable land management principles in use by communities as a means of protecting ecosystems services".
