Implementing NGO/CBO: Baan Khai Community Briquetting Group (BKBG): Established in 2009 by community energy volunteer group that had been trained by Phuket Provincial Energy Office, first on energy saving stoves followed by producing briquettes supplied to members and others. With such continued support, BKBG becomes the centre for renewable energy technology of Tambol Srisunthorn Thepkasattri. Location of project:Baan Khai Community in Thepkasattri Tambol Municipality, a plain area with para-rubber plantation around Phuket suburban.The location is grid-connected and readily supplied with all kind of fossil-fuels. Coconut waste in the location is fairly abundant. Target Population: 313 families in target location the majority of which earn living in para rubber plantation and process, and depends upon grid electricity and fossil fuels in daily activities. 20 families are project direct participants. The per capita income is THB:150,000. Main Activities to be carried out: 1.Launching capacity building through training 2. Launching demonstration of activities: Installation of briquetting facility 3. Launching dissemination of project results 4. Launching participatory evaluation / knowledge management Anticipated Results and Indicators: 1.Increased capacity and awareness of target population witnessed by ability to put into articulate & put into practice what being learnt 2. Estimated reduction of 130 kg/day-the amount being processed into energy 3. Estimated reduction of CO2 emission for LPG at 10.56 tons/year from 20 participating families 4. Established fund for maintenance of the facilities 5. Project activities being known among wider audiences in Phuket Province with more new members being received into the group
