Project Description
This project seeks to conserve 360 hectares of wideleaves forest of species with high commercial value, among them: Mahogany, Qanxan, Santamaria, San Juan and especially the Rosul, an endangered wood tree. Also, the forest contains native fruit-bearing species as the Chicozapote, the Sapota and a variety of ornamental and medicinal plants. Also the project, seeks to prepare the appropriate conditions for ecotourism into the forest, leaving an nucleus aarea for the food and h bitat of a variety of wild fauna. Another component of the project is the implementation of a tree nursery with forest, medicinal and ornamental seeds, to sell them in the regional market. The basic activities of the project are: delimitation of the area preservation nucleus; location and labeled of the forest, medicinal and ornamental plants with their common, scientific name and uses; center of tourist observation with pictures to promote the understanding of the visitors; gathering of seeds and implementation of the tree nursery. It is had a forestry inventory of the community and an ECUT (Study of Capacity of Use of the land) of 30 hectares which allows to reforest them inside the PINFOR program (an official Program of Forestry Incentives) during this year. They are expected the following results: 1)a natural forest with appropriate management and protection measures with forest species and fauna of high ecological value; 2)Trees producing seeds, also, identified and labeled ornamental, fruit-bearing, medicinal and forest plants; 3) a forestry nursery; 4) center of exhibition of native flora and fauna pictures. GENERAL OBJECTIVE. Conservation of eight "caballer as" of forest latifoliado; to produce 100,000 ornamental, medicinal, fruit-bearing and forest plants a year for the regional market, to place in the market regional forest seed of Mahogany.
