The goal of this project is to protect the environment from damages such as shifting cultivation and deforestation by engaging the GRED members in reforestation, organic farming and awareness programs to sustainably manage the environment for the future generation. The objectives of the project are: - to replant another 50ha of commercial and non-commercial trees on barren land by 2010 - to establish nursery - to raise 200 domestics chicken for organic farming The Grassroots Economic Development Community (GRED) has been involved in tree planning and other community based projects including organic to address the economic, social, and environmental issues which member tribal groups have been through. The project will address following problems: - Shifting cultivation - Pollution to river and marine ecosystems through tree planting - Tendency to cut tress for domestic and commercial use - Cash flow problem - Lack of food. Expected Output; - Improved members capacity for tree planting and organic farming - Improved Members awareness on sustainable agricultural practices - Good example for surrounding communities
