No cash Financing in this Project. The Project aims to support indigenous tribe called OLEPS of Rukha - Samthang communities with introduction of improved jersey cattle breeds through cattle exchange strategy. This proposal has been agreed by the farmers. In Broader sense, the communities will be benefited through increased milk production thereby enabling generating income through sale of surplus dairy products like butter and cheese. The other benefits expected to derive would be reducing pressure on the forest when certain number of animals depended on forest grazing are down sized through this Project. The Project goals are laid down as follows; 1) Reducing number of cattle grazing in the forest 2) Reducing on the fuel wood consumption by preparation pf livestock feeds 3) Reduction of Fuel wood/green gas emission through promotion of bio-gas technology 4) Bio-gas waste can be used as manure for aqua -culture & in organic farming. Since the main activity is to reduce the pressure on environmental degradations, its is proposed that eight bio-gas plant with two each in four villages will be introduced on trial basis. Such Project will be of immense support and help to mitigate poverty reduction in that area. This type of project has never been implemented earlier besides new house construction for the poorest families by Tarayana Foundation.
