Bio-diversity

The project involves the building of ecological and health awareness about the situation of Brgy. 5-A and the Davao River through river conservation, sustainable eco-tourism and economic but environment-friendly project, awareness and capability building, and advocacy & networking.It shall promote among the target partners knowledge on environment and health, appreciation of Davao river and its ecosystems. On the biodiversity, initial surveys conducted showed that there are important shells, fishes and plants present in the Davao River which are of economic and ecological importance. Apart from conservation and rehabilitation, the project is expected to facilitate the establishment of a support system for policy makers and community stewards in the often difficult decision to disapprove or disallow intensive levels of exploitation of the river resources and other important uses.
