Project Description
More than 90% of Obudu farmers are small scale operators cultivating plots less than one hectare and live in absolute poverty on less than $1 per day. They are largely constrained due to the absence of modern techniques such as crop programming, which helps schedule production throughout the year, access to good planting material - improved hybrid, drought and disease-resistant seeds and absence of rural agricultural extension services. Consequently, agricultural productivity is low resulting into hunger and poverty in the rural areas. Planned activities include; baseline study, Supply of AVRDC quality Seeds, Scheduled visits to farmers,Workshop and Seminars, Hands-on training on the farm, Appointment of agro-dealers Workshop, Seminars and hands-on training and identify available and potential markets in surrounding areasble production. The community is involved in carrying out this project especially the farmers and youths of that community. The goal of the project is to contribute to improved livelihood of rural small scale farmers through the promotion of improved vegetable technologies and restoration of the endangered Gnetum africanus. Promote restoration of the endangered Gnetum africanus in the community
