Environmental policy and administrative management

The results of GEF/SGP evaluations show that the shortfalls in project implementation originated from the limited capability and experience of GEF/SGP grantees and key stakeholders, which affected the quality of project implementation. One of the major recommendations of the GEF/SGP evaluations is that in order to effectively implement GEF/SGP in Viet Nam, capacity building for GEF/SGP partners and key stakeholders in project management should continue to be given high priority. A four-day training workshop on GEF/SGP project management and implementation will be organized and cover such major topics as project planning and budgeting, M and financial management. One GEF/SGP project site visit will also be included during the training workshop. The training workshop participants are the members of the project management teams and consultants of GEF/SGP on-going projects, and representatives of organisations which assist in GEF/SGP monitoring and evaluation. The training workshop objectives include the followings. a. To raise awareness and improve knowledge and understanding among the GEF/SGP grantees and key stakeholders on GEF/SGP and environmental issues of GEF concerns b. To build and enhance capacity of the GEF/SGP grantees and key stakeholders in project management and implementation c. To create a forum for exchanging information, ideas and experience in project management and implementation among the GEF/SGP key stakeholders, and between GEF/SGP and the GEF/SGP key stakeholders; and seeking comments and recommendations to GEF/SGP for the revision of the GEF/SGP Manual on Project management and Implementation and the GEF/SGP country strategy d.
