Zebenhun is one of the communities adjacent to Lake Piso one of these KBAs located in Cape Mount County. With the multiple values (biophysical, socio economic and cultural) Cape mount offers, this part of the country not far from Monrovia the capital city, could be of a great interest in terms of ecotourism. An aerial view of this site present mangroves, lake, wetland, hills, beaches, forest and Savannah all along the Atlantic coast. The inhabitants of Cape mount are good in fishing and charcoal production. SEC will set up one pilot Center in Zebenhun for training and domestication of medicinal plants. Three acres of land will be made available by the community through their contribution and memorandum of understanding; The goal for the establishment of an ex-situ gene bank/herb garden and the establishment of specialty vegetable farms in grand Cape Mount County is to: a) conserve endangered and threatened species of plants for breeding and reintroduction into the wild when necessary and possible b) help sustain and prevent the over exploitation of the forest resources through the provision of alternative livelihoods to rural folks c) provide education on selected plants for the public and communities surrounding the forest reserve and off-reserve areas The objectives are to: Conserve and protect the indigenous spices, medicinal plants, dyes, aromatic plants, sweeteners and other lesser known plant species in Grand Cape Mount County from getting extinct Provide a common place for practical field demonstration of NTFPs for teaching and learning purposes To enhance local innovation capacity and support community building, farmer groups, and agricultural enterprise development through specialty vegetable production.
