Bio-diversity

I. OBJECTIVES The Project aims at protecting the forest which is the nearest to Beirut through achieving the following objectives: 1. Studying and protecting biodiversity 2. Environmental education 3. Sustainable development of the forest. This will be achieved through highlighting the importance of biodiversity and combating: Trees cutting Land degradation Random harvesting Forest fires Random hunting Forest insects Severe grazing. II. ACTIVITIES Determining forest boundaries and entrance points Rehabilitation of 500 meters of terraces Construction of a tower of 12 meters of height Preparation of personal equipment for combating fires for 2 groups of volunteers and 3 persons. Thirty site points in the forest will be determined. Buying equipment in order to observe the biodiversity Establishing a special nursery for medicinal and aromatic plants Building observation points for birds and wild animals Hiring 2 guards for the forest Raising awareness among the local community and the society as a whole Environmental education at a national level through the establishment of the discovery and educational path in the forest.
