Bio-diversity

Manmade activity (cattle-breeding and plant growing) turned forest-steppe landscape of Alabuka into a semi-desert. The main idea of the project is to recreate plot of wood and bush vegetation and demonstrate to the local population ecological and economical advantages that can be obtained due to appearance of plantations of trees. Activities foreseen within the framework of the project: 1. Conducting seminars for the local population. 2. Creation of communal nursery with an area of 0,5 hectares 3. Planting of drought resistant kinds of plants included into the Red Data Book of Kyrgyzstan on a territory of 6 hectares. 4. Terracing of slopes as a way to decrease erosion and to increase moisture of soil 5. Fencing area of 6 hectares 6. Looking after saplings and distribution of plots among the families of community 7. Information campaign. Altogether there will be involved in the project 12 families whose main source of income is cattle-breeding and household market gardening.
