Bio-diversity

The project tries to solve the problem of ecosystems rehabilitation in the vicinity of Kara-Kyz village. The impact area of the project captures river plane landscapes and foothill landscapes valley. The wood and shrub vegetation are the main element of the landscapes. The coniferous forest of Tien-Shan spruce is the dominant element in the foothill landscapes. The project consists of following components: 1. Creation of an arboretum (20 hectares). The arboretum will consist of tree nursery for species, which are included into the Red Book of Kyrgyzstan: Semenov fir, Knorring hawthorn, Nedzvedskogo apple and etc. Saplings of fast-growing trees (poplar, willow) wild-growing fruit bushes (barberry, sea-buckthorn berries) and an apricot will be also planted in territory of a tree nursery. 2. Planting sea-buckthorn berries and willows in the flood-lands of Zhergez river. 3. The protection of nesting and mating places of black cocks - is a basis for creation of community based reserve (about 40 hectares). The basic method of protection is stopping of access for cattle and people during the black cocks mating season.
