The Pastoralist Integrated Support Programme (PISP) works with over 11,000 pastoral people to strengthen community water harvesting and seeks to protect dryland biodiversity from over-grazing through the strategic management of herd movements around vulnerable water points. The NGO was amongst 7 community initiatives nominated for the UNDP Equator Prize 2004. Due to their knowledge and very successful project implementation the GEF SGP is funding them with a learning exchange grant in order to facilitate the sharing of experiences and lessons learned for the benefit of other needy communities. The activities include a learning exchange tour for other communities and the research and documentation of PISP experiences (website, video documentary, articles).
