Extensive illegal logging, charcoal burning, and parrot capturing, slash-and-burn agriculture, heavy pesticide usage and the very huge and immediate threat of bauxite mining are harsh realities facing the cockpit country. The project seeks to create a sustainable solution for the protection of endemic species and the conservation of Jamaica s Cockpit Country while providing alternative livelihood and foster mutual stewardship of the environment between both locals and clientele
