Bio-diversity

In the Ix region n and in the VIII Region the largest populations of mapche ethnic indigenous communities are concentrated. These ethnic groups pose an a very diverse and rich biodiversity of trees in fruits and seeds many of which represented the basic food for the families. With the vances time these plant varieties have been lost and s some have kept it care of women elected that has in its hands the work of caring for the seeds and reproduce them as tradition n mantenuiiendolas at the time. The project aims to strengthen the traditional strategies of supply and exchange of peasant seeds, using the trafkintu or non-monetary exchange system and raising participatory, disseminating the contributions of the curators of seeds to the conservation development n and use of cultural heritage and biodiversity in the South of Chile.
