Aware of the importance of ensuring the protection of its biodiversity, is that the Organization, is supporting a group of peasant families in the sector of Mara nal, to develop the project entitled conservation of biodiversity and production sustainable n in the plots of the sector of Mara onal, said project substantially fits within the national strategy of the UNDP, since it focuses on the area of biodiversity (forest ecosystems). This project aims to: contribute to the conservation of biodiversity, through the implementation of pr practices of use and management sustainable of the natural resources of the plots, promoting thereby an improvement in the quality of life of these households. For the fulfilment of this goal is developing n a series of actions, both protection and management, such as: reforestaci n of the banks of the r or paddock and Quebrada Bejuquito, incorporation under the r moan CPB the areas of forest, campa as of cleaning and recycling of waste, rounds firewall, sowing grasses with green manure, production of vegetables with manure org nico n. Adem s train and sensitize participants and community on the importance of the protection of natural resources. The Cort s Plains is a peasant settlement to the Institute of agrarian development (IDA), located 5 Km to the Northwest of the city of Bagaces, on the Interamerican Highway, this farming settlement located in the 1st District of the Cant n Bagaces, Guanacaste province, is made up of plains of the Cort s plots of as Mara Sector nal(, with a total of 65 plots, in which the families of small you producers, carried out various activities, mainly: confined to bovine and minor species (pigs, poultry), subsistence agriculture (ma z, rice) and sand a, just as protection against forest fires (fire brigade and COVIRENAS)). Major environmental and socio-productive problems faced by the families of farmers and producers, Mara sector nal of the Plains settlement of the Cort s are: forest fires, the degradaci n and compaction along n from soils as a result of the pr practices confined to intensive, the cancer to poaching, lack of protection of the sources of water and the sequ; which limits them to a production n agr tail of subsistence, non-sustainable, due to the lack of availability of water for irrigation and household consumption, which in turn, impacts on low income families of l@s parceler@s perceived and that drives the pressure increase n on the regeneration of forest areasareas protected wild aleda as and sources of water, as well as migration n and land abandonment, with the consequent increase in the risk of fires charrales and pastures. This project is intended to give a solution n integral to this policy problem, in a way contributing to overcome the major constraints faced by these families, implementing direct actions that promote the sustainable use of natural resources in these plots and the promotion of process of environmental education and conservation and protection of water sources, as as in an integral way, contribute to raise awareness and educate the community in general, on the importance of the sustainable use and conservation of biodiversity, protection of ecosystems, existing in the plots of the Mara Sector onal, and emphasize its strategic importance gica, as buffer zone of wetlands of the Palo Verde National Park, spec specifically in the hedges as of the biological reserve gica Lomas Barbudal.
