Bio-diversity

Boralugoda, south east of Kalutara district has identified as one of the highest freshwater fish diversity in Sri Lanka. The aquatic diversity mainly associated with Maguru ganga and its tributaries. Project focuses on reducing the deterioration of the land and biodiversity that affect ecosystem integrity and improving the native biological richness and maintain resilience. This is planned to be achieved through introducing vegetation for degraded streams, removing and controlling of invasive plants in riparian zone, land degradation prevention through stone walls and laying stones for roads crossing streams & rivers. Conducting educational and awareness programs for the youth and community through youth clubs, distribution of educational materials, school lectures and building resource center and a library.
