Environmental policy and administrative management

During the Tsunami which occured in December 2004, Ampara was the most affected area with the most number of houses destroyed and about 8000 lives lost. And about 200,000 people were displaced. Out of the many divisions in Ampara, this project mainly focuses on the Potuvil Division. Since there was a loss of about 1500 homes in Potuvil, only 500 of them have been rebuilt. Thus, this project will be carried out to build eco-friendly houses for the homeless. These houses will be subject to the latest technology with rain water tanks, and the electricity will be generated by the usage of solar-energy. Also, 50 personnels will be trained to provide first-aid during any natural disaster and people in the area will be educated and trained to act responsibly during these times.
