Municipality of Novo Selo has total number of 3900 families and 16 settlements with total number of 1280 street lights which are not economic and they are threat for the environment and in the same time very expensive for maintenance because they are spending a lot of electricity and maybe the most important thing is that they directly influence on the climatic changes. Because of this it is necessary to change the street lights with new environmental HIGH POWER LED lights, and these lights are environmental because they don t contain mercury so this means that they will positively influence on the climatic changes. Also these lights will decrease the expenditure up to 70% and this means that they are very economic. As an example is that the present expenditure of electrical energy of street lights that we want to change with this project monthly is 1300 $ or for 12 months as we plan to last this project total expenditure of electrical energy will be 15600 $. In case all these street lights are changed the monthly savings will be 910 $ or for 12 months the amount will be 10920 $. Municipality of Novo Selo plans to open Fund from the savings from electrical energy with special account and the money from this Fund will be used in investments for maintenance, expansion and extension of this project and this means direct investment in protection of life environment. Overall objective: Decreasing of climate changes through decreasing of negative influence from mercury and sodium street lights; Specific objective: Protection of the environment trough changing the part of the street lights in Sushica settlement and park lights in the municipal centre Novo Selo; Education of NGO sector, business sector and local-self government for the meaning of decreasing of harmful emissions for life environment and economic benefit from saving an electrical energy; Direct investments in projects for protection of life environment; Capacity building of the NGO. Measurable influence: - Decreased harmful emissions that are produced by classical street lights; - Decreased expenditure of electrical power for 70 %; - Saving of electrical energy; - Financial benefit for the local self-government; - Expansion of street lighting with the finance that is saved; - Protection of the environment; - Opening a Fund from the savings from electrical energy.
