Environmental policy and administrative management

Project goal is to work with community members in Fai in order to tackle the problems of land degradation associated with mining. The many activities of the local communities like mining of earth for building purposes and construction generally in the locality, mining of artifacts and precious stones like Tantalite in Fai and other places like Kurmin Jibrin, have left many unfilled pits, and trenches of varying sizes and depths which may act as water reservoirs during the rainy season, but has become dangerous death traps for human and animals grazing in the area, It is also a breeding area for harmful insects such as mosquitoes and microorganisms. Fertile agricultural land destroyed and vegetation-cover used for grazing and fuel wood devastated. Project activities include; Baseline data collection, Sensitization and enlightenment campaign against Land degradation, Planting of Economic trees, establishment of skills acquisition centre at Fai Jaba LGA, one day experience/best practices sharing workshop at Fai, monitoring & evaluation. Men, women and youths of the community are the groups involved in the project.
