Bio-diversity

The objective of this project is to protect water catchment at Kokayphu and promote conservation of downstream biodiversity including sustainable water supply to the 12 households of Rigey Village. This will also help achieve the overall objective of protecting the environment, biodiversity and water source. The plantation and fencing of the area around the water source will directly protect the water source and provide sustainable drinking water supply to the people. This will also reduce pressure from overgrazing in the community water catchment. Management of community water resources - people will save time and effort they currently engage fetching water from a distant and unpredictable source and during lean season (winters). Children, especially girls will no more be exploited in this daily errand and will be able to devote their time in studies and other useful activities. This project will benefit 12 households consisting of 66 people in the Community of which 23 are children below 12 years of age.
