Environmental research

The project seeks to build the adaptive capacity of local farmers and fishermen to Climate Change in Ikorodu, Lagos State through the use of scientifically proven tradition systems and techniques which will strengthen local economy and sustainable development. The impact of climate change is already been experienced especially at rural communities, where there is dwindling farm yields and productivity and by fishermen, who are finding it increasingly difficult to explain the reduction in the quality and quantity of catch. This is already leading to increased level of poverty both at the household and community levels. The result is that this tradition basis of local economy are now been eroded. The impact of climate change both short term and long term needs to be explained at community levels and adaptation strategies explored. Project activities include; Inception Meeting with local community/ farmers / fishing associations and other stakeholders, Preparatory meeting with Lagos State Polytechnic Ikorodu / UNAB on the project and design of research, Partnership meetings with other NGOs in Ikorodu, design project management plan/M plan. This involves the community as a whole especially the farmers and fishermen.
