The projectis located n ward 27 in Guruve. It was initiated to address the issue of loss of vegetation cover,loss of soil,siltation of major rivers,overgrazing,poor crop yields and inadequate fuelwood supply. Objectives of the project -to introduce and maintainn agroforestry methods of farming and to pprovide water -to increase crop yields and tree yields by planting trees that increase sol fertility -to make sure that every household plants at least 10 trees per season -t produce vegetables for mainly consumption -to make sure every home uses a fuel saving stove -to improve both climatic conditions and biodiversity Activities The activities planned for this programme are to promote biodiversity and promote positive changes in climate. The activities nclude the following: -nursery management -agroforestry -reafforestation -gully reclamation -water harvesting -training and farmer visits -species conservation -wood saving stoves Project participants -50 households are actively involved in this project -the whole community will benefit from the project Anticipated project results -The project is to help the community in restoring the already degraded lands -it is also going to improve the nutritional status through the establishment of agroforestry and nutritional gardens.Water will also be made available.The rate of fuel wood supply s reduced through the use of woodsaving stoves. -improved land use management -improved water supply -improved production and yields -production of 300 stoves
