Environmental research

The settlements of Jo o Galego, Fundo Figueiras e Cabe a de Tarafes, despite being located on fertile land, with great agricultural and agro-forestry potential, have not been able to capitalize on them, due to lack of internal capacities of associations, understanding of climate change issues, and financial resources, which can assist to start up an initiative. The three villages, have a total population (INE, 2012), 644 inhabitants distributed as follows: Cabe a de Tarafes 52 inhabitants of Fundo Figueiras 246, and Jo o Galego 346 inhabitants. This project aims to promote the strengthening of capacities to adapt to climate change while ensuring the improvement of livelihoods of the communities. The initiative also aims to strengthen the capacity of stakeholders in participatory gender analysis with the objective to integrate and to ensure full participation of all community members in project activities.
